The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act DESIGNATES a 100-foot Resource Protection Area (RPA) bufferalong water bodies, such as lakes, streams, rivers and their associated wetlands. These areas are protected by state law and local ordinances. In general, no development, land disturbance, or vegetation removal is allowed in an RPA, unless it qualifies as an exempted activity. If you have questions, or would like more information on what activities are permissible in the RPA, please contact Mike Newchok, King George County Environmental Specialist, at (540) 775-8556.

The Architectural Control Committee (ACC)/Inspector will remind you, if aware, that if your request possibly falls under these restrictions an approved K.G. County permit is a must. It protects you!!!
